Roma Invicta
Daemones (Demons)
“Yield not to evils, but attack all the more boldly.”
― Virgil
Demons are malign entities that exist only to spread chaos and destruction. Their origins can be traced back to Pandora, a maiden created by the gods, at the behest of Zeus (Jupiter), who wanted to punish the Titan Prometheus for stealing fire from the gods to give to humans. To balance their acquisition of fire, Zeus asked Hephaestus (Vulcan) to create a woman out of clay, who would be endowed with numerous seducing gifts that would plague the world from then on. The other gods contributed to Pandora's creation, by endowing her with such attributes as a deceitful nature and a speech of lies. Zeus also offered her a box that held within numerous evils, diseases and other pains. With the box in hand, Pandora was given to Epimetheus, Prometheus' brother, who accepted the divine gift despite his brother's warnings. One day, out of curiosity and not of malice, Pandora opened the lid of the box, unleashing the swarm of evil spirits trapped within. These demons would forever after plague mankind.
