The Roman Republic is a cosmopolitan society, but Romans (who are mainly human) have a distinct sense of their own superiority. All other foreigners who look different or whose native language isn’t Latin or Greek are generally looked down on as ”barbarians". There are many non-humans who live in the city of Rome; most of these come from Roman provinces that have not been granted full rights. Those from the same areas tend to congregate in the city, turning their neighborhoods into little enclaves and colonies.
